Last Thursday I went to my mailbox and THIS happened….

Friday I was at Target in the book section and noticed they had magazines – why not check right?

THIS happened….

Colton, Miles and I jumped up and down with excitement.

I am a person who is not usually at a loss for words yet I am at a HUGE loss right now when it comes to how INCREDIBLE it feels each and every time I see this cover. I get giddy. My heart flutters and I ask myself how did this girl who couldn’t even run a mile 15 years ago make it onto the cover of Women’s Running Magazine. I didn’t do it alone – that is one thing I am sure of.

My blog has been an outlet for me for years. I grow each and every time I do a post. It’s a way for me to work through my own emotions my own thoughts. I learn from your comments and they make stronger – physically, mentally.

In the end what I have learned is that the people who I REALLY care most what they think about me are the people that I have known my entire life or those who I have known for their entire life. MY FAMILY.

Miles yelled out when he saw me on the cover of a magazine in a store. THAT FELT FREAKING AWESOME. My son thinks I’m cool.

Chloe asked me this morning if she could take a magazine to school to show her teacher. THAT FELT FREAKING AWESOME. My daughter thinks I’m cool.

My dad has been downright giddy about it. My sister confessed to me that everywhere they go he seems to find an excuse to weave it into the converstaion that his daughter is on the cover of a magazine.

My grandparents emailed me to tell me how proud of me they are.

I get teary eyed thinking about it. One of the basic human desires is to want to be loved and OH HOW I FEEL LOVED.

This week THIS happened…..

Sweet Miles was so proud showing Colton *mommy* – I will remember THIS exact moment for the rest of my life.

I am most proud of the fact that my kids, my husband, my parents, grandparents and siblings are MORE excited for me than I am for me. Making them proud really means the world to me – more to me than just about anything else.

Thank you if you took the time to vote for me.

There were 7 other awesome, amazingly inspiring women who deserved to be on that cover too. Some of whom included the ladies below…..

http://momsrunthistown.com/ – Pam started a Nationwide Women’s Running group – if you are mom check this group out!

http://www.dietitiancassie.com/ – Cassie has inspired me to eat MORE whole foods. I love reading her tweets and find her incredibly smart and talented.

http://www.chasefear.com/ – Adrian lost a TON of weight and turned her life around. I have a soft spot in my heart for people who shed the literal and physical weight and become marathoners. If you say you can’t run a marathon for whatever reason – check out her blog – she doesn’t make excuses – she makes it happen.

http://www.makemyyours.com/ – Tessa started her own make up company. HOLY AWESOME!!

THIS happened…..

Women’s Running thanking me? Really? Shouldn’t I be the one doing all the thanking? I feel lucky to have met such a talented group of women who happen to be REALLY REALLY AWESOME in real life.

So even though THANK YOU doesn’t seen like enough to express how thankful I am for all of you – I will say it – THANK YOU. I am blessed.

  31. I’ve seen your blog around various places over the past year or so – congrats on the running cover! You are definitely deserving of it. You are one of the best writers out there I think, and it’s obvious how much running means to you. I think you often write very meaningful posts. That Saucony video was a great one. Enjoy being on the cover, and all your upcoming running!

  32. Congratulations!!! You look so beautiful and strong on that cover! You’re such an inspiration to the rest of us moms. :)

  1. […] A lot of people ask me how I have been able to train for all 8 half marathons this year AND now also be training for a full marathon knowing that I have two little kids.  The boys are great but at age 2 and 3 they are nowhere near old enough to a) leave at home while I go for a run or b) run along with me.  Oh yeah and c) I am not nearly tough enough to push both of them around in a stroller while I run a la blogger Dorothy Beale style (did you see her on the cover of Women’s Running Magazine this month?)
