Prior to every long run or race I drink a Red Bull, before weekly runs I make coffee, drink, and then hop on the treadmill or bundle the kids up for a stroller run. If I am running – I need caffeine. end.of.story.

I will admit that coffee and Red Bull worked just fine for me. I never really had any complaints about them till I tried Street King Energy Drink from GNC. Isn’t that always the way? Ignorance is bliss.

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been drinking Street King in the mango flavor before every run. Instead of the jitters that I usually get with a Red Bull I have a steady energy, if that even makes any sense? It doesn’t to me. I’ve seen little energy shot drinks before and thought to myself a. there is now way that thing works and b. how is that not going to make me feel like crap if it’s a bunch of caffeine in such a tiny liquid amount. I was wrong on both accounts. This stuff works and it doesn’t make me feel like crap.

Case in point:

This morning I took Baby C out for a single stroller run. 6 miles around town faster than I have ever run pushing a kid before – 7:38 avg!!

  • Mile 1: 8:13
  • Mile2: 7:43
  • Mile 3: 7:27
  • Mile 4: 7:44
  • Mile 5: 7:24
  • Mile 6: 7:14

Coffee and Red Bull take up a bunch of space in my tummy when I’m running. I often felt the sloshing around or yuck burps mid run. Street King is a shot, so there is no sloshing, just focused energy.

The best part about this little shot is for every one purchased a meal is provided for a child in need through the United Nations World Food Programme!! Street King is the TOMS of energy drinks! Starbucks and Red Bull don’t do that and cost about the same.

So yep, ignorance is BLISS no longer, I’m a Street King convert.

  1. Nice review! I’ve never tried it, and am not a huge caffeine person, but like the idea of something that’s more steady energy… coffee tends to make me too jittery. Glad it’s working for you, great run!!

  2. Hey Dorothy! I’ve been following your blog for a few months now! Thanks for following mine back! This stuff sounds good! I’ve been using Spark by Advocare and I really like it. But I’m always looking for new things to try!

  3. I do coffee and Red Bull too. I think they get me started and then my natural push keeps me going. I’ll try the Street King. Thanks for the recommendation!

  4. might have to give this stuff a try… in about a year 😉

  5. This is great! My husband and I both need caffeine as well and he is a fan of Monster’s and stuff and I have tried adding the 5 hour energy drinks to Gatorade before long runs and races, but I concluded that I think it messes up my stomach. I’ll check this out, thanks for posting! I would also recommend checking out Zipfizz – I LOVE that :) Orange and Grape are my favorite, I have a review on my blog if you want more info.

  6. Sherri says:

Where can you purchase the energy drink?

  7. They sell it at GNC :)

  8. It’s that you find out my thoughts! You appear to have an understanding of a great deal of about this, such as you composed a tutorial from it something like that. I feel you can apply a couple of percent to demand the message house a tad, but instead of in which, that is fantastic weblog. An amazing read through. I’ll definitely be backside.

  9. Even though experts are very important , periodically it’s absolutely better to connect to sincere everyday people folks such as you , which have created their particular weight-loss voyage – because they are still making reference to it.

I love a good comment!
