I’m always on the hunt for the perfect black capri.

You would have thought by now I would have found one that I was in love with but I hadn’t. There were plenty I liked – some I liked A LOT others I liked a LITTLE. Some I would even go so far as to say I hated them.

The scoot capri entered my life recently and I know my semi cool-ish races will never be the same. No rubbing, no chaffing, no excess skin squeezed into looking like a love handle or worse creating back fat that I know I don’t have.

Saucony SCOOT CAPRI in action

The scoot capri is a little longer in the leg length than other capris which I really liked. It is awesome for marathons because often times the ones that stop just around the knee start to pinch my legs when they swell from the 26.2 distance. The pinching has caused chaffing which REALLY hurts in that post marathon shower [if this has happened to you anywhere on your body you know the I want to scream at the top of my lungs pain that you feel when the water first hits that newly opened wound].

The waistband is wide – which means is flattering and flattening around the stomach region. It also has a nice hidden front pocket. I’m not talking about those sewn in squares that you find in most running shorts or capris – the kind that flap in the wind when you fold over the top of your short. This one is hidden in the waistband. It’s perfect for a key, credit card, a gel or a tiny bit of toilet paper.

I’ve found my new favorite black capri.

At the start line of B & A Marathon

The Scoot Capri retails for $45 – you can find it by clicking HERE to visit the Saucony website.

  1. I always race in capris because I find they eliminate the dreaded inner thigh rub!

Um, I think the dude in the red compression shorts needs to size up or try something different. That is not a good look for him :)

  2. Denise P. says:

Ohhh ahh those look great on you! I’ve got short legs though, so I don’t know if I’d like the longer length. I have a pair of Champion ones from Targeee that are probably my faves. I also have a Brooks pair that get a lot of use, but they are long as well and just too hot for most of my Southern California running.

  3. I’ve been wanting a new pair of capris, (well, I will in the fall now that it’s hot) those look like winners! I have some of the C9 ones from Target and they are all right, but I’ve been looking for an upgrade.

  4. I think I will be ordering a pair of these for my Spring races. I have tried dozens of kinds through all my racing and have never found something that worked well. Thanks for the review!

  5. Ohh I like these! I have a pair of Lululemon capris that are longer and I love them but these are half the price! I race in compression capris and always pre-treat for chafing around the knees!

  6. I’m always looking for the perfect black running capri also! These sound lovely…what material are they?

By the way I love that picture with you up front with all the guys :) you rock!

  7. I’m always looking for good a capri. That is all you really need for early morning winter runs here is AZ.
For $45 I definitively need to try then out.
    Another reason why Saucony rocks.
    Thanks for the info.

  8. Love the pic with you toeing the line with all those guys! You go!

  9. WANT!

And I also love the pic of you up there at the front, so tiny, but so fierce!

  10. I will have to check these out! Do you have any recommendations for black running shorts – the spandex style? I haven’t tried any of Saucony’s but I’m totally willing to. Something that doesn’t come up TOO high on the waist and also that aren’t so short that it looks like I’m running in racing briefs?

  11. Those look like awesome capri’s. Thanks for the great review :)

  12. Thanks for the review. Would LOVE to hear your input on some of your other favorite running apparel. Could you post some updated apparel favorites? I notice you often wear the Saucony LX tank. How much do you like these? I need to buy some running clothes and I’m leaning towards Saucony brand, but I’d like your input!

  13. I need these! I only have one pair of black capris and I literally wear them every time I run

  14. Does this capri have a drawstring in the waist? It doesn’t sound like it, which makes me nervous about the possibility of it sliding down? Funny, I never actually TIE the strings in any of my capris… but I have had pairs without the string that tend to slide off.

    @ Monica:
No drawstring :) and it doesn’t slip off me at all. I think the key to that is to order the correct size – if they are too big then they might slip. I have a similar pair in a size larger and they slip when running so I use them only for working out. Hope that helps!

    @ Leigh:
I love the LX tank – I wear a bra underneath it and use it as a shirt. The fabric is tight – so it is not forgiving in the middle region – just as an FYI.

I’ll do some updated posts on products I love – there are tons of great items in the new spring collection!

  17. Great, THANK YOU! I love the mid-calf length. I haven’t had the chafing problem with the ones that hit at knee length, I just don’t feel like they look good. I have “strong” thighs, and I feel like those just below the knee capris make me look like a football player! @ Mile Posts By Dorothy Beal:

  18. What tank top are you wearing? It is really cute!

  19. ok can I just say, you look SO ADORABLE in that picture of the start line. my goodness. :)

I only wear capris or longer – I swore off shorts in high school – so thanks for this great review! will have to check them out.

  20. I had to give these capris a try since you look like a rockstar in them. They are truly a great fit and very comfortable to boot. Thank you soooo much for the review!

  21. Great review, thank you! May I ask you what size you are wearing here? I’m in between sizes so I’m trying to decide to go up or down. Thank you!

  22. I wear the small :) Hope that helps!

  23. Totally helps, thanks!
