  1. All of this is so true, to me it is a complete change in mindset and is definitely the thought of knowing it is completed and embracing it as an AWESOME start to the day! I LOVE morning running, BUT….I am really struggling right now. 31 weeks pregnant and it still feels good to run but I work full time and have a 3 1/2 year old. I don’t want to give up yet but I don’t really know what to do, fact is I am just not sleeping well enough (3rd trimester insomnia battles) to get up in the morning. Any tips? I still hit my runs on the weekends and try to squeeze in one during the week after work but its hard to sacrifice my time with my son!

  2. Oh goodness – I feel for you!! I was working full time with my first too and training for marathons and it all just seemed like so much. Is there any way you could run at night after he goes to bed so you aren’t missing out on any time with him? Do you have a treadmill at home? Or is it possible to cut your lunch short and go for a lunch time run? Showerpill makes some legit wipes that are like a mini shower so you wouldn’t have to have access to a shower post run but could still fit it in. Not sure where you live but if it’s warmer – maybe pushing your son in the stroller – its not the same as playing on the floor with him but I made it a point to always chat with my kids on our stroller runs so they were more of hanging out together rather than them sitting there bored. I’m sorry I don’t have better tips!! Be strong :) cooking a baby is hard work – so don’t beat yourself up over missed runs!

  3. I go through spurts where I am great at running in the morning and then I fall back and have trouble doing it! It is such a great feeling to do your run and be done with it before your day even starts!

  4. I have always been an early morning runner, out the door by ~4:30. It is my time of day, and has always worked for me. So what I have discovered over the last year and a half is the joy of running at OTHER times of the day … interesting, eh? :)

    Good tips – snoozing is definitely never a good idea!

  7. Thank you!!!! I like the lunch idea and working in education it is almost Christmas break time so I can’t wait for a run anytime of day week or so! I am in Asheville, NC so it is great weather and he loves to be outside so we will make it work. Thanks again and yes, it is hard to not beat yourself up when you so want to do it but these are times that it is okay and we need to be flexible!

  8. I would love to become a morning runner but it just doesn’t work for me at this time of the year! Too cold and dark in the mornings so I end up going to the gym and doing the treadmill instead. In the Spring again I’ll try to get back pounding the pavement in the mornings.
