The new year gives us all a chance for a fresh start.
The reality is that you can start fresh any day you choose, but something about the new year and everyone around you setting goals helps to collectively motivate.
The words I write on this blog publicly are most often for my benefit. I write posts that I can read and re-read when I need them.
Race recaps remind me I am strong.
Stroller run – highs and lows remind me that there are always highs and lows and you can’t have one with out the other.
PR’s remind me that I love speed.
Falling short reminds me that failure isn’t really failure – it’s just one step to get you closer to where you want to be.
Marathon training cycles mostly done on treadmills remind me that YES even though you don’t love the treadmill you have trained on them before and you can do it again.
Early morning run recaps help me see that if you want something bad enough then you have to do what you have to do.
My running goals for 2013 are mostly the same as they were for 2012. I haven’t worked out what my personal goals are yet but I plan on doing that tonight before the ball drops and rings in another year.
If at first you don’t succeed – try try again.
- Sub 3:10 Marathon
- Sub 1:30 1/2 Marathon
- Sub 1:05 10 Miler
- Sub 40 min 10K
- Sub 19:30 5K
I plan on remembering these words each and every day of 2013.
I pray that this year is one of your best yet, filled with happiness, joy and dreams that come true.
