I begin each week with the goal of figuring out how to manage it all.  How to balance three little people, a house, a husband, the laundry, the dishes, the books I want to read, and the books I’ve not yet finished, the blog postings I’ve written in my head and the runs I’d like to go on.  Some weeks I make progress and am on top of things, other weeks I take two steps back to my one step forward.

At 8:30 this morning I looked at the clock.  I had already gotten three kids dressed, fed, and out the door, driven Chloe to school – which takes 40 minutes, stopped and got coffee at Starbucks [I was out of cream at home], walked Chloe into school, and had gone to Trader Joe’s to do my weekly grocery shopping.  It was 8:30.  I think I am just as proud of getting that much accomplished this morning, before most people have even left for work, as I am about my 8K PR yesterday.

YES – I said PR!! WOOOO HOOOO.  I ran the St. Patrick’s Day 8K in DC and took my 8K PR from a 35:19 post baby #2 to a time of 33:48 post baby #3.  My time was good enough for 32nd overall female out of 3,176!!

This race was especially meaningful to me because the first time I ran it[it used to be a 10K] I was at one of my heaviest points in my life and wasn’t very happy with who I was or where I was at in life.  I ran it with my mother and father, both of whom 20+ years old than me, beat me.  I ran a 1:06:25 and was the 1,745th female overall out of 2,011.

My full race report will come later this week but I wanted to leave you with a little pictoral inspiration.

Age 18…..

Age 28……

As I write this post I hear Christina Aguilera singing in my head…..Keeps getting better….
Thank you Lord for giving me this life that keeps getting better!  I am truly blessed by your grace.
