Check out the latest issue of Run Washington for an article I wrote for Mother’s and Father’s Day about the influential affect parents can have on running.

Run With Mom and Dad

If you don’t live in the DC Metro area you can find the article by visiting or – the article starts on page 69.

I also wanted to share another recent article I wrote on the Runner’s Marathon of Reston.

Runners Marathon of Reston

The highlight of the race was watching 17 year old Devin Nehill, a stand out lacrosse player in the area, take the win on the women’s side. Witnessing the tears of happiness stream down her face as she rounded the last bend on the track to take the win, was breathtaking and tear inducing.

The race was extra special to me because I had the chance to hang out with my sister and watch our cousin run her first half marathon. I was extremely proud of Ginny, for not only finishing but for having the courage to even start the race. She tragically lost her brother recently and will be running Marine Corp Marathon this fall with my sister and two other friends to raise money for a foundation she has set up in his honor. I’m am honored to be coaching all four girls and to help keep my cousins memory alive.

Live in the DC area? Consider volunteering at the Capital Challenge Race. I will be there volunteering and would love to meet you!!

  1. That article is great and I LOVE the photo! Hope that’s framed somewhere!

  2. You seriously make me laugh!! If my blog is so terrible why do you make it a point to come here all the time? :) :) Must be a busy Sunday night for you!

  3. Where can I find Run Washington?? I live in MD but about an hour or so from DC.

  4. Love it! BTW, I was down in Blacksburg last weekend for a race and saw one of your “I Run This Body” shirts! Pretty cool! :-)

  5. How cool you get to coach your cousins! A family that runs together, stays together! 😉 And stays strong for each other. Sorry to hear about your families loss.
    Running is a great healer!

  6. Great article in Run Washington, and the exact legacy I’d want my to leave my future kids/nieces/nephews with!
