Each year Running USA surveys runners just like you and I to gather up to date information and develop stats on the state of running in the USA.

If you want your voice to be heard and would like to be a part of this year’s survey click on this link to be taken to the survey – http://www.surveymk.com/s/NRS13Active

It takes about 15 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.

Yesterday was a rest day. Tonight will be 8 – 10 miles easy. I’m feeling rested and happy.

The weeks before a marathon I often feel stressed, this time feels different. I feel a sense of peace. You can train perfectly for a marathon and have everything go wrong. The marathon is a perfectly imperfect race.

There are many factors beyond your control. The best you can do is prepare and then accept that what will be will be on race day. Don’t allow your happiness to be tied solely to the time on the clock. Fast times or personal bests are fun but remember that FINISHING a marathon is a huge accomplishment whether it’s your first, your tenth or your 21st {wink}. Enjoy the journey.

Mile Posts Blog is on:

  1. You are going to run a great race Dorothy! Can’t wait to hear about it. You are my inspiration to keep trying at that distance.

  2. I’ve been thinking this exact thing as the day gets closer – I am surprisingly calm about it too…except for the fact that I missed the deadline to choose transportation so I am technically “on my own”, that’s stressing me out just a tad! First thing I do when I get to the expo is make them let me on the ferry!!!:)

  3. I know I should be focused on the running part but I’d really love to know how you tied your scarf.

  4. To: Dorothy Beal From: Darin Armstrong #TeamLIVESTRONG

    Hello Dorothy,
Just a quick message to ask if you would be interested in a ‘mutual’ following on twitter. I am currently following you now and am awaiting for your follow-back. (#FYI I do RT’s ‘anytime’ for all #Triathletes #Cyclists #UltraRunners #Marathoners #FitnessProfessionals who follow me on Twitter and have something important they want mentioned for support…)

All the very best to you and yours for the rest of 2012 and beyond Dorothy. Look forward to hearing from you…
