Morning friends!!

I’ve been MIA from the blog for a couple of weeks, but I’m back. I know, I know, you didn’t notice. That’s okay!

If you follow me on instagram you already know some of my exciting-to-me pieces of news this week.

Hyland’s asked me to be on an all female team for the Boston Marathon in honor of the 50th year of Katherine Switzer running the race. I was honored and humbled that they asked me to be a part of this but even more so honored that they asked me for recommendations of women who I thought would be great additions to the team! They ended up picking three of the women I suggested and one of them is near and dear to my heart – my MOM!! My mom was already registered to run the race but we thought it would be fun to share our stories together. If it weren’t for women like Katherine who opened the door for women like my mom, my mom may have never had the chance to run Boston, a race that only 50 years ago was reserved for men only. It was my mom who believed in me and told me that if I wanted to a. run a marathon and b. qualify for Boston one day – I could in fact do both.

I’m excited to share this journey with her but also VERY excited to share this journey with the other kick butt women on this team. Three of whom you can follow HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Below are some photos of a run I went on the other day! I’m very much looking forward to winter being OVER. I have made a conscious effort over the past two years to focus on thriving in winter instead of surviving winter, but right about now, I’m hitting my upper limit of way too cold runs. One day I will live by the beach :)

As part of this partnership, all of the women on the team are going to be participating in social media challenges each week. We will be sharing our journey with prompts from Hyland’s. I think it’s a fun way for all of us on the team to learn more about each other but also for you following along at home to learn more if you want!

If you want to see my announcement video you can check it out HERE on instagram!

If you read some of my earlier posts you may remember that I started building back mileage to train for the Rock N Roll DC Marathon. I’m still going to be participating in that race, I’ve just decided to be smart and drop down to the half. I love love love running back to back marathons but as I get older it gets harder to do things like that and still feel healthy. So despite my urge to stick to the marathon, I’m 99 percent sure I’m doing the half!

Note: All posts that mention Hyland’s are part a sponsored series of posts.

  1. Robin Halper says:

Congratulations, that’s exciting news about Boston! It’s a balmy -9 degrees (yes, NEGATIVE 9) here with the wind chill today…trying REALLY hard to thrive this winter in Wisconsin but I’m barely surviving!

  2. That’s exciting and congrats. Good luck with your training for the next couple of months!

  3. Congratulations! That is so exciting!!

  4. Heather M. says:

Have a great run! I live in Natick right by the Marathon route and watch every year! I’ll be cheering you on :)

  5. that’s awesome!! congrats!!

  6. Congrats. Somehow I missed that your mom is a marathoner too. Wow!

  7. I would love to run Boston, but would need to do some serious improvement on my pace to qualify. How great you will do it with your mom. I wish my girls would run with me! Stay warm (those pics look pretty chilly).

I love a good comment!
