One week ago today labor started.

I knew it would take a long time.  I’m a runner.  I know my body better than any doctor ever will.  When I checked in to the hospital the night of the 8th the doctors told me that I may have a baby by the end of the week.  I knew otherwise.

21 hours after the first start of contractions Colton River Beal was born 11 days before his due date.

At 10:06 am on the 9th of November my littlest man entered this world!  He weighed 7lbs 14 oz.

He was a full pound larger than his sister was at birth, but still not as large as his big brother who had weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds .18 ounces.[yes I said 8.18 – my favorite number combination!!]

I love him so very much.  I am amazed again how my mind has already forgotten how much I disliked being pregnant.

It’s totally 100 percent, completely and utterly, worth it – though hard to focus on/remember in the moment.

I’m so pleased that this little guy is mine!

The name?
I went into labor with Chloe 22 days before her due date.  We did not have a name picked out because we did not think we would have a baby 3 weeks early.  While walking around the hospital in labor we narrowed down the name to two.
After Chloe was born[and named] we asked the doctor if she had delivered any Chloe’s recently – she said 6 that month!! YIKES.  I had no idea it was that popular. We knew next time to ask the doctor ahead of time about the name.
When I went into labor with Miles 10 days early we were prepared ahead of time with two names.  Miles Lincoln Beal or Lincoln Miles Beal.  We asked the doctor this time around if she had delivered any Miles’s or Lincoln’s recently and she said NO to both.  She said she liked Miles and I agreed that it was my top choice.  My husband, being the dear that he is, saw how much pain I was in and asked if it would be less painful if he let me have my name choice.  I emphatically said yes.  I picked Miles.
This time around we could not find a name we we both liked.  Eric wanted something traditional like Bruce, I wanted something a bit more wild like River. A couple of months ago he suggested the name Colton and I was shocked that I too liked the name.  Eric has always felt that I had pretty much picked the first two names so I thought it was fun that Eric came up with this one for our last baby.
Colton became the name that I called my little boy in my head. I shared the name with my mom and sister and best friend Claire and they all agreed they loved it!!  So secretly, despite many times saying we hadn’t picked a name, I knew that I wanted his name to be Colton River Beal.
He shares the same intials as his older sister, CRB.  All three of my children have the letter L as the third letter in their names.
i Love their names and i Love them.
