I lucked out when it came to cadets – Danielle’s brother in law happens to live in Hawaii and offered to take us around exploring the day before the marathon. While I typically wouldn’t recommend sightseeing the day before the race – it was HAWAII – so it seemed silly not to explore!

After we headed to the expo – which WOW – is another story in and of itself….John picked us up in his pickup. Naturally Danielle and I chose the back. If I had to do it all over again twenty times, I would pick that exact same day again. Hawaii is magical – certainly worth the long flight.
Some of the pictures are blurry because that’s what happens when you are trying to take pictures in the back of a moving truck. You get the idea.

The first place we went to explore was Pearl Harbor, it was beyond moving, and I’m really thankful John took us there. I knew the history but I didn’t really KNOW the history. I’ll save those pictures for another post where I’m not rambling nonsense, out of respect for what happened there.

crazy windy and loving it

We went to Kona Brewing Company for dinner, this was the view from the restaurant before the sun set. The food was yummy, the company was fantastic, and it was the perfect end to a great day. Just writing about it makes me smile.

The other night Danielle sent me a picture of us from prom. I guess I have to just accept I’m getting old…..senior highschool prom is such a distant memory that I really had forgotten that Danielle was in my group. Somehow seeing these pictures made our weekend in Hawaii even more special. You never know how life is going to turn out, and I believe that makes it all that much more special.
