Lately I have had more great runs than good runs…..

Good runs are any run I go on – fast, slow, hard, easy – I’m thankful to be running. Great runs are those that inspire me, those that boost my confidence, those that make me fall more in love with the sport of running.
Thursday I had a good run. In all honesty it was terrible but I reminded myself that I was running and even the worst runs were still runs. I found peace in my misery…..it was good and awful all at once.

It was hot, my legs felt dead, the humidity was ridiculous, I was pushing the double stroller, and Miles who never whines on runs, complained the whole time.

Mile 1: 9:59

I was putting forth my typical effort and was getting a mile that was over a minute slower than my first mile typically is on this trail. 6 miles completed. UGH.

I felt so awful on the run that the minute I was back at the car I told myself I was not running tomorrow under any circumstances. My mind needed a day to forget the misery.

Saturday morning I started fresh. I headed out the door with my new long run training paces in mind and was determined to hit every mile.

Mile 6: 8:22
Mile 7: 8:17

A perfect negative split run. Great runs make me happy!



A huge CONGRATS to my friend Jess at Pace of Me who PR’ed yesterday in her 10K. She had her 3rd baby this year and is such an inspiration to me!

    I did a 10k yesterday and it was definitely a GREAT run! It was only my 3rd race of that distance (my first one was actually the fall into winter in 2009 and you were there :) I pred yesterday by 5 minutes and got first in my age group…def great and a reminder why I have the bad runs- they make ones like this that much better! Thanks for being a huge inspiration to me :)

    Great job on the negative splits. I had a great 14.5 mile run this weekend. It was very slow but felt good and I was happy to easily make it over 14 miles for the first time since my knee surgery last year. :)
