Last December I had high hopes for 2014. I just KNEW it would be my year. The year I got everything together, the year I ran a sub 3:10 marathon, the year everything would fall into place. I was sure there was no way I was being naïve, I was going to be different from all the other millions of people who knew it would be their year too, because really it was going to be my year. Till it wasn’t….

I’ve debated back and forth on recapping the year that was 2014 for me, I’ve written posts – saved some, deleted others.


After a double digit run earlier in the day, I’ve decided it doesn’t much matter what ALL went wrong in 2014, ALL the stuff that did happen and didn’t happen, because that is the past – this is the present. As they say, there is no day like today. Right?

Make today the day that you decide – 2015 is going to be MY year {yes YOU, I truly believe we can make this year the best year yet, for ALL of us}.


I’m more determined than ever to discover myself and more about my health.

Which brings me to a partnership that I’m really excited to tell you about.


I’ve partnered up with Garmin and Whole Foods on their #PathToFit campaign. Myself and six other bloggers will be talking to you about food and fitness for the next 6 weeks. I’ll be visiting my local Whole Foods each week to find nutritious foods and I will be tracking my steps with my new Garmin vívofit.

As part of my #PathToFit I’ve decided to tackle the Whole 30 challenge for the 3rd time. On January 1st my little family and I made our way to Whole Foods to stock up on nutritious, yummy foods for the week.


Stocking up on foods to prepare at home has already made this Whole 30 easier than the previous two. I’m getting more adventurous in the kitchen which is also making a HUGE difference in my motivation level. This time around rather than eating salads and sweet potatoes every day, I’m making meals. The changes I’m making aren’t just about me. I am tired of making one meal for my children and then making food for Eric and I, or worse yet leaving Eric to fend for himself. I want us all eating the same healthy meals – together.

Family dinners, eaten together, are a focus this year. #sayitdoit #accountability

  1. Sounds like you have an exciting few weeks ahead. I’m also focusing on cleaner eating this month. We can all use a tune up right? I’d be interested to see what you think of the tracker I am between that one and the fitbit.

  2. I am with you starting today! I kind of started on January 1st, but I was out of town and found it wasn’t the best time. I am ready! I have a fridge that is empty and ready for healthy food to fill it tomorrow. I need to make my menu plans, but today went really well! Thanks for motivating me and I look forward to meal ideas from you, especially ones that work for the whole family!

    This is exciting to hear. I think it’s important to meal prep and get the family involved. Getting children involved at an early age will only help them live a healthy lifestyle once they get older and start making their own decisions.     We’ve decided to clean up our eating as well, as a family. I’m adding more fitness to mine to help me stay on track as well. I’m not a huge fan of “resolutions” so I set one or two goals to focus on all year rather than a list of things to try to accomplish. This year to include a goal of eating healthier, I have a goal to run at least one 5k a month. A friend of mine did it a year ago and not only did she have fun, it helped keep her active. I’m running a half marathon in February with my brother (his first half, my 3rd), and I don’t want to do the half and stop running thinking “okay well I’ve completed that my training is done.” I feel doing a 5k a month will motivate me to keep my running up so that I excel at the races.
