One of the quirky little things I like to do before races is to make sure my nails are painted and that my hair is straight. I will literally get up an extra 15 minutes early to flat iron my hair. Ditto with going to bed late to make sure even my toes are painted – you know since everyone sees your toes during races. :)

I’m crazy in to purples lately and had planned to wear a lavender shade on Monday but found the perfect nail polish for Boston. It’s a light gold sparkle with blue flecks! It is made by Essie and the name is “On A Silver Platter.”

A marathon finish won’t be given to you on a silver platter – it must be earned – but this nail polish can be purchased at Target.

What quirky things do you do before a big race?

  1. Love love love that you have those pre-race beauty rituals. Hey, who doesn’t like to look good during 26.2?!? :)

  2. I see nothing wrong with either of these things! Love that Essie color. I, too, like having my toenails polished (maybe in case one falls off? I don’t even know). My hair is usually thrown up in some sort of horrible ponytail and even if I straighten it, it winds up curly and wavy and crazy by the end, so usually don’t bother. 😉

  3. I love your pre-race ritual! My pre-race ritual involves an Epsom bath, dancing around to my favorite tunes, and I always keep my gels or chews in a specific pocket for the race. I don’t know why, but switching pockets seems like the end of the world.

  4. I always to do a pre-race manicure (well for big races)! I take a shower the night before and blowdry my hair so my pony tail will look nice (HA!). It’s the little things…
