The lure of a gluten free beer option for my spring vacation was enough to get me to try Anheuser-Busch’s NEW Michelob ULTRA Light Cider.
My first thought when I tried the cider was that it tasted like fall only lighter and nothing like I had thought it would.
I think I expected it to taste like beer because I was focusing on the fact that it was gluten free more so than the fact that it was cider. After I got over the initial shock that it tasted like apples – I really started to enjoy it. It’s good straight from the bottle but I think it tastes MUCH better served over ice. It made me feel like I was drinking a summer mixed drink rather than a beer.
Beer often feels heavy to me and the overload of gluten upsets my stomach. It doesn’t take more than a drink or two for me to regret drinking. With no pain post drink – I didn’t have my typical pang of regret!
The cider tasted light. It was sweet but not too sweet. I like that it is naturally sweetened from apples. It has less calories than traditional ciders [120 vs. 180 in most ciders].
It’s available nationwide. If you want to locate a store in your area that has it you can search locations on the Michelob website – http://www.michelobultra.com/
This Cider is the first Cider from Anheuser-Busch that is produced and distributed in the U.S. It comes in six packs of 12 ounce clear glass bottles.
Verdict: I like it, I would buy it again and I would recommend it to friends and family looking for a light cider drink.
Which favorite summer meal or activity do you think would go best with Michelob ULTRA Cider?
