Wanted to share a post I recently wrote for the 26Strong blog on my simplified thoughts on nutrition and running, if you haven’t read it you can check it out here.

I bit the bullet today {even though I already knew this was on my plan for 2014} and signed up for the Honolulu Marathon!!! I will be running alongside my cadet Danielle for the race and helping her finish her first marathon. My first marathon still remains one of the most special out of the 27 I’ve run. There is nothing like doing something you have never done before, and honestly weren’t sure you could do. I often say the day I crossed that finish line I was forever changed, I was. It wasn’t so much about the 26.2 miles but about taking steps for months that helped me complete something I would have never dreamed I could do. It was the first of many moments in my life where I learned that the doubt I feel on a continual basis can a. be controlled and that b. the doubt isn’t real. I can do those things I don’t think I can if I put my mind to it.

I can’t wait to experience a finish line first with someone else and I hope that one day Danielle looks back and thinks that it was a BIG moment in her life as well.

  5. So fun! Also I just love that pic of you. Such an intense face. There is no shame in intensity! I feel like people criticize it in the “recreational runner” saying things like “It’s not like you’re going to the Olympics.” I say bullsh*t! Get intense. Make it happen. Love it!

  6. I’m so jealous of you. I can’t even finish a 10k LOL I’m so busy with work that I can’t train properly. I guess, I really have to make time to train. Good luck with your running and God bless!
