I recently did the 7 minutes with Sima Hip Openers you tube video and highly recommend it.

Sima suggested I try this video out pre or post run. I’ve done it post run and felt a difference the next day! I’m NOT a yogi but I am on my way to feeling more confident when it comes to yoga. As runners we often get so accustomed to running that we forget to include other important aspects to take care of our bodies and keep them running well. I believe it’s important to step out of our comfort zone, not just in running but in other areas of our life as well!!

  1. Thank you for sharing this! I really need to add more yoga back into my routine. I get so busy and it is the first thing to go :) Making this a goal to do at least 2-3 times a week.

  2. I’m not a yogi, but I do yoga at least once a week–my legs always feel so much lighter when I run the next day!

  3. I need to memorize this routine! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  4. I definitely need to start doing more yoga…my hamstrings have been really tight lately, and yoga is the best way for me to stretch and loosen things up! I keep saying I’m going to incorporate more yoga into my life, but to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of stretching. But, it’s something that needs to be done to avoid injury!

  6. Thanks for sharing this. I actually do run almost every other day. I am not a yogi but I also do yoga. I think I need to try this after my run :)

  7. I would recommend yoga to anybody. It doesn’t have to be long – 15-20 min is enough, doesn’t have to be very hard either, just pick some poses that you feel comfortable with. And that’s right yoga is great after any aerobic exercises – I do mine after the treadmill.

  8. Thanks for posting this! I just started dabbling with yoga last month (I have tight TIGHT hams & hip flexors) and had never heard of 7 Minutes With Sima. I just gave her hip-opener & shoulder-opener videos a go after a 6 mile run, and shared a bit of what that was like on my blog. It was tough to keep up, but I like how her sequences flow, and look forward to continuing to practicing them!

  9. Great post! I have done some basic yoga in the past in order to loosen up prior to hitting my strength training routine. Seems to not only help me avoid injury, but it seems like it’s helped my stamina during my workout days that I don’t do anything to really warm up prior to lifting.

  10. thanks so much for sharing this! for 27 years i’ve HATED stretching but after a bunch of injuries i went to an amazing PT, got scar tissue taken care of, but what he told me was that i REALLY needed to start stretching more. my hips/hamstrings/adductors the main targets i’ve been doing a little yoga routine, but some of the poses she does are new and i really like the flow of this routine. :)
that said, i’m a tight runner, soooo in my head i’ll look like her but we all know the reality. ;)

  11. It was a great one! I must definitely include this in my fitness regime and I hope I will do it!

  12. Thanks for sharing! i’m regularly doing yoga because it gives more confident to me.
