It seems that everywhere you turn these days there is a gift guide for what everyone thinks you should be buying for Christmas. Some of these guides are helpful, some are annoying. I’m pretty sure that no one in my family would be leaping for joy if they got a huge box of 5 hour energy under the tree….thanks but no thanks.
It can be hard however to find gifts for the runner in your life beyond running apparel. So here is a suggestion of one of my favorites….
I received the Alex and Ani Bracelet: It’s Not A Sprint It’s A Marathon, from two of my best friends, Amy and Sarah, for my 30th birthday. The bracelet became one of my fast favorites and unleashed an addiction to all things Alex and Ani.
What’s on my Christmas List this year? More Alex and Ani bracelets and I’m pretty sure Santa [.....ahem....my mom.....] is sending some my way.
While in Vegas for the Marathon Eric got me three more. The compass so I never loose my way, and the D and B initial ones for my initials and also for DREAM BIG.
Each bracelet with a charm has a meaning or stands for something. I’m a visual person and need visual reminders daily of mantras, thoughts, or even encouraging words to help me stay on the path I want to be on.
The descriptions of each charm play over and over in my head when I look at them.
Persistence | Strength | Heart
In the beginning of a marathon, your head keeps you focused with the notion that all dreams are possible with the right state of mind. As the journey progresses, the sheer will to succeed must move you forward. At the most challenging moments, your heart will undoubtedly take over. Adorn yourself with the It’s Not a Sprint Charm as a reminder that life is the ultimate marathon for it’s the moments that make up the journey.
