email – would you have any interest in interviewing Shalane Flanagan?
me - jumping up and down – freaking out – ummm YES
2012 has been an incredible year in my life for so many reasons – so many in fact that I can’t even begin to count them. It makes me feel blessed and joyful and EXCITED for all that is left to come in life. Is that strange? I think not.
Meeting Shalane this weekend and getting to interview her just topped off my Marine Corps Marathon experience. It was one of the best weekends of my life and yes it seems like I’ve been saying that a lot lately.
I’ll be back this week to tell you more about the questions I asked…..which YES in case you were curious did include my typical – what is your favorite color question.
Me: What is your favorite color
Shalane: [puzzled look] green
Me: I like the ask the questions no one else asks because otherwise why would someone read my blog instead of Runner’s World or Women’s Running?
Shalane: [smiles and giggles]
If you had the chance to interview a professional runner – what one question would you ask them?

Isn’t she just incredible?! She’s so sweet.
We got to visit and do a group interview with her at the Runner’s World Festival a couple weekends ago and it was just amazing to be in the same room with her. Of course she was one of my top 5 moments of the weekend

I told her that I was excited about doing my first Boston(!) this spring and she was so sweet about it and was like “oh, I’ll be there too”….and of course she didn’t mention that she’ll probably win the entire marathon.
If I could go back and ask her anything, I’d go back and ask her what the most difficult part of her life currently is.

Jeal Jeal Jealous! This post sure is a tease!!
WOW!!! I am so jealous! I can’t wait to read about your interview. She is one of my absolute favorite runners. I would want to ask her how she stays motivated day after day to get out there and push herself. And if she has a specific goal that if she reached it, she would retire her running shoes. And, if so, what is the goal.

So cool! New to your site, thanks to BelieveIAm’s recent link. Love it! Can’t wait to hear more of the interview with Shalane! Thanks for an inspiring website… you actually have me considering a triple stroller for my future…. scary thought.
Never considered it a rational thing before.

What an incredible experience! She seems like such a down-to-earth world-class athlete.
Beautiful pics DTB. Congrats on this experience. Can’t wait to read the full interview.
I am jumping up in down in my chair for you – how totally awesome and exciting. I love the pictures – you and her already seem like BFFs
Can’t wait to read more about the interview!!
When I met Meb at the Boston Marathon Expo this past year I asked him all about his shoe tie-ing technique as I’d been having trouble tie-ing mine too tight. I felt goofy but it was a good 10 min (no lie) talk about shoe tie-ing.

You, my dear, live a charmed life!!! I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months and I can’t get over all you’ve accomplished and all the things you’ve seen and done!! You’re definitely an inspiration to work toward all those dreams I have!!
Can’t wait to hear more from the interview with Shalane!! How awesome!!
If I could interview one runner it would be SCOTT JUREK and I’d ask him if he’d like to go for a [slow] run with me.
Wow what a great opportunity, Dorothy! I can’t wait to read your full interview. BTW, you look so pretty! I never look attractive mid talking. I always end up with a face looking like I smelled a fart or something hideous.

VERY inspirational. I would ask her what her favorite stretch is, how she avoids injury, where she enjoys to run the most, and whats her favorite way to cross train!
