My mommy is in town so yesterday we went on a stroller run together. I debated asking her to push the single, while I pushed the double, but decided I hadn’t run with the triple in awhile so why not get a killer workout in.

Killer it was. I seriously have forgotten how hard it is pushing three kids. 6 miles – 8:58 avg – I miss pushing ALL my little buddies at once.

My Favorite Little People In Big Red

  • Mile 1: 8:54
  • Mile 2: 9:02
  • Mile 3: 8:53
  • Mile 4: 8:49
  • Mile 5: 8:52
  • Mile 6: 9:12

Today I got to run alone. My mom and sister watched my little people while I went out for what I thought was going to be an easy run. A mile into the run I decided that I wanted to attempt a timed road mile and see if I could PR.

I love random PR’s. They motivate me and push me faster.

I warmed up for 3 miles.

  • Mile 1: 7:42
  • Mile 2: 7:38
  • Mile 3: 7:42

And then  began my timed mile.

The thoughts running through my head went something like this…..

….pace yourself….even in a mile you start slow and finish fast…..man this feels relatively easy for a timed mile, maybe I am going too slow? …..[15 seconds later]….holy crap I hate timed miles….this is not fun…..why am I doing this…..I wonder if I am finished with half a mile yet…..[check Garmin}.....you have got to be kidding me..... .43? ....not even finished with half a mile....I should give up.....this is not fun......I like the marathon, not short stuff.....this is miserable.....okay if I don't PR I am going to be mad I did this......okay stop stop Dorothy....BELIEVE.....how can I believe when I am in this much pain? ......okay girl the faster you run the faster the pain is over....I wonder what pace I am going..... 6:05? Oh my goodness this is miserable I thought I was running like 5:45.....guess you aren't in the shape you thought you were....okay okay you got this you got this.....pain is temporary pride is forever....keep pushing.....oh but this hurts.....I hate short fast stuff.....I'm just built for the marathon.....okay okay just sprint and who cares if you can't breathe......you can PR.....it will be a Christmas present to yourself.......ahhhh but when will this be over.......BEEEEEEEEP

  • Mile 4: 5:52

  1. Love your little people pic, please remember they are growing all the time ;-)

I’d be happy to hold that timed mil space for 100meters WELL DONE to you.

A very merry christmas to you and yours xx

  2. YAHOO for PR’s!!! Awesome Christmas gift!

  3. I don’t even know what to say to the tripple stroller. I didn’t even know they made such a thing. You are a die hard for sure. My thighs are burning from my 7 miles/walk run today…no stroller, avg. pace = 9:33. Ugh! :)

  4. AWESOME – 5:52!! That’s fantastic! Especially considering you ran it mid-run, by yourself! Think of what you could do if you raced a mile on the track! What a great Christmas present to yourself :)

  5. Congrats on your 1 mile PR!!! The stroller picture is great. I can’t even imagine how tough it is pushing all three of your little ones. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!

  9. WOW! Love the stroller pic and the way you chronicle your thoughts. You smoked that mile! I am a “long” girl too but you’ve inspired me to go out and gun it one of these days….very soon.

  10. AWESOME! Both to the FAST PR mile, and the triple jogger run. You are my mom inspiration. I only have one now, but I can’t wait for the day when I need a triple jogger. And I hope I can run that fast after three kids!

  11. Wow, that mile PR is pretty awesome! Congrats!

  12. I am so inspired. Way to go. I PRd on a very hilly run this week. It was so exciting. I haven’t ever tried a mile for speed. It’s good to know to warm up a few miles first.

  13. I love the mental commentary. I think the SAME WAY!! I can so picture you out there thinking this! :-) Great job on the new PR and thank you for sharing!

  14. Love the full write up on that mile. Good to know even amazing runners have such thoughts running through their head when pushing themselves hard. Nice job!
