So one of the very cool things about the blogging world is getting to meet new people because of your blog!
In the last couple of miles of Freedom’s Run Marathon I started chatting with a fellow runner. We both were dying and tried to motivate each other to finish strong(we ended up finishing together). I told him about my blog and guess what he sent me this week?!?! A snapshot from last weeks main page on www.marathonguide.com. Why you are asking am I excited about this??? MY NAME WAS ON IT for finishing 3rd female overall!!!!! Oh my goodness I think I might have just died and gone to heaven. I’m feeling super duper cool. And yes I am indeed officially a running GEEK.
He also informed me that anyone running Marine Corps “might want to know that Dominion Virginia Power has been working on Lee Highway (miles 1.25 to 2.5 of MCM) all summer. Therefore…
1) The road is like a patchwork quilt of asphalt in places. The seams aren’t terrible, but they are present.
2) They had to rebuild some of the curb. The foot or so leading up to these new curb portions is slightly higher than the rest of the road (not to mention that it is fresh, hard concrete)
3) They had to replace some of the sewage grates. In many cases, these are not flush with the road surface.
4) There is a higher-than-expected amount of “debris” (gravel, stones, etc.) in the roadway.
In order to minimize hazards, runners may want to stay in the center of the road and keep a close eye out as they take on this stretch.”
Thanks for sharing this helpful information with us!!!!!
