Headed to the track last night to do 4 x 1 mile in lovely coolish weather – a rare treat for the first day of September. I ran my warm up a little faster than usual to really get my heart pumping and then started the workout right away. My goal was to get sub 6:10 for at least one mile but not to go so fast that I couldn’t finish the workout strong.
6:08, 6:13, 6:12, 6:11
Mentally I was a little worried about the workout because I didn’t have a good LR this weekend. I felt tired, tight and out of shape. I’m hoping that it’s just because I’m 5 weeks out from Freedom’s Run and I’m running my peak mileage. Having a good workout after a not so good one always helps me to not dwell on the bad one.
I finally have a step back long run this weekend – I’m looking forward to *only* running 16 miles.
